Phil Sterling (2008): A widespread species throughout the British Isles. The adult of this small species, recognised by the three black dots on its ochreous forewing, flies at night and is attracted to light. It is generally commoner than T. semifulvella (246). The larva normally feeds on birds’ nests in open situations. Before 1970 within Dorset, there are 10 records mainly from the south-east of the county; since 1970 there have been 48 records, spread across Dorset, with most being recorded at MV light.
