Davey, P., 2009: A local species in Britain, occurring most often in southern England, with a few outlying colonies elsewhere in Britain, the larva feeding on birch (Betulae spp.). In Dorset, the moth is local and at low density, occurring most widely in sandy localities that support birch. The Scarce Prominent also occurs in old oak and birch woodland on clay and chalky soils in the north-east of the county.
