Davey, P., 2009: A local species in Britain, the larva feeding nocturnally on willow (Salix spp.) and poplar (Populus spp.). In Dorset, the moth is at low density and typically colonises river valleys where willows and poplars grow. There is no indication that the species inhabits sallow-rich heathland localities, for example, there is just one record in twenty-five years of trapping at Arne, a dispersed singleton trapped at the peak of the 1976 heatwave.

Recorded in 32 (80%) of 40 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1930.
Last Recorded in 2019.
