Davey, P., 2009: A widespread species in England and Wales, more local in Scotland, the larva feeding on birch (Betula spp.) and alder (Alnus glutinosa), and occasionally other deciduous trees. In Dorset, the moth is frequent on birch-rich heathland on sandy soils, in woodland containing mature birch or alder on any soil, and among alder-rich fen, swamp and river valleys.
