Davey, P., 2009: A widespread species in Britain, the larva feeding on a variety of herbaceous plants. In Dorset, the moth is ubiquitous and common. The first brood is on the wing between early May and mid-July, several weeks earlier than the national norm. A partial second brood during the late summer has been noted in roughly half of the past twenty-five years, mainly at the end of warmer than usual summers. Extreme examples of variation have not been noted in the county.
