Davey, P., 2009: A widespread species across Britain, the larva feeding on birch (Betulae spp.). In Dorset, the moth is common in birch woodland and locally abundant, particularly so amongst birch growing on sandy soils.

The species resembles the Swallow Prominent, and care is needed in identifying each correctly.
